What is The Auto Show?

The Rensselaer Motorsport team is excited to announce The Auto Show as a part of the Reunion & Homecoming Weekend festivities - October 6-9, 2016. The Auto Show will showcase a variety of cars, including classic and modern collector cars, and all cars are welcome! Alumni, students and the Rensselaer Community are encouraged to enter their car into The Auto Show.

When is The Auto Show?

The Auto Show will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. during the traditional FanFest event at Reunion & Homecoming.

Where is The Auto Show?

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute – East Campus Athletic Village (ECAV)

Who is eligible to enter their car into The Auto Show?

All alumni, students, and the Rensselaer community are welcome to enter their vehicle. All makes/models are welcome. If you’re an alumnus/a of the Rensselaer Motorsport team (RPI Formula SAE), you are highly encouraged to participate. The more cars we can showcase, the more interesting the show!

How can I enter my car into The Auto Show?

If you are interested in entering your car into The Auto Show, you must do so by filling out the registration form at formularpi.org/car-show. There will be no in-person, day-of registration available.

What is the cost to enter into The Auto Show?

There is no fee for any aspect of the The Auto Show.

Will there be security for my car before, during, and the night after The Auto Show?

We understand the concerns for leaving classic and modern collector cars at the location overnight – we have arranged to have a security firm on site.

I am an alumnus/a who is traveling from a distance, and I am attending the entire Reunion & Homecoming Weekend – how can I keep my car safe for the weekend?

Alumni involvement in The Auto Show is very important to us because we know many of you have classic cars that will help make the program great. We will work hard to find a safe and secure space on campus for you to store your car for the weekend. We simply ask that you reach out to us directly so we can work to accommodate your needs. What time do I need to have my car at the East Campus Athletic Village for The Auto Show?

We would ask anyone participating to check-in with the event coordinator, Tim Rice, Team Leader, at ricet3@rpi.edu or (339) 203-2234. Please plan on having your car at ECAV at 10:30 a.m. If you are participating in the Morning Car Cruise, you will Remember, The Auto Show runs from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016.

What if my car is my only form of transportation for the weekend?

You will be able to bring your car in and out of the location of The Auto Show. We will work with the security team to make sure it is not an inconvenience and your car is still safe.

Will there be parking for trailers?

We will do our best to accommodate your needs. Tim Rice, Team Leader, at ricet3@rpi.edu or (339) 203-2234 to help with arranging your needs.

What surface will I be parking on?

The Auto Show will be taking place on concrete/paved areas at the East Campus Athletic Village .

I don’t have a car to bring. Will I still be able to attend?

Yes! The Auto Show is open to everyone in the Rensselaer community during Reunion & Homecoming Weekend. The Auto Show is a part of FanFest, a popular event during Reunion & Homecoming Weekend. We encourage you to bring your family, friends, and guests to enjoy this exciting event during the very special weekend.

What if I need to leave before 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016?

This is no problem, we will work to be sure you are able to remove your car if necessary.

Do I need to stand by my car the entire day?

We would appreciate you being around to answer questions and brag about your great car. We will be sure to supply you with snacks and drinks throughout the day. Also, we encourage you to bring a family member or friend to be with you all day so you can take advantage of the other FanFest events.

What is the Rensselaer Motorsport demonstration?

The Rensselaer Motorsport team will be demonstrating the superior braking, accelerating, and maneuvering of one of their racecars. Be sure not to miss out on the exciting opportunity to see a Formula-style racecar in action! Demonstration starts at 10:30am on Edgehill Terrace.

I am an alumnus/a of the Rensselaer Motorsport (RPI Formula SAE) team, what else is there for me to do this weekend?

Rensselaer Motorsport (RPI Formula SAE) is excited to announce several events for all of our alumni members to participate in during Reunion & Homecoming Weekend, October 6-9, including:

● The Rensselaer Auto Show – Saturday, October 8, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., during FanFest at the East Campus Athletic Village. The Auto Show will showcase variety of cars, including classic and modern collector cars – all cars are welcome! If you have a car that you would like to showcase, you may register for The Auto Show at formularpi.org/car-show. There is no entrance fee for your car. A full list of details, including layout, security needs, and arrival times are posted on the website. Your participation as an alumni member is invaluable to the success of The Auto Show.

● Rensselaer Motorsport (RPI Formula SAE) Car Demonstration – Saturday, October 8, 10:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m.– Edgehill Terrace. Don’t miss this opportunity to see the car in action!

● Formula SAE Open House – Saturday, October 9, 3-5 p.m. Join us for an Open House at Bumstead Garage following The Auto Show. It’s a chance to reconnect with alumni and to meet the current team members!

● We look forward to adding many more events to the schedule, especially for you. We will be sure to keep you updated as we finalize our plans!
